Mr. Mohandas Pai, Director and Head, Admin and HR -Infosys Technologies, interacted with Charter Members of TiE Hubli on making Hubli a better place for companies to grow and a better place to live.
Mr. Mohandas Pai is member of the Board and Director-Human Resources, Education and Research and Administration. He joined Infosys in 1994 and has served as a member of the Board since May 2000. He served as the Chief Financial Officer from 1994 to 2006. In 2006, he voluntarily remitted the office of CFO to lead efforts in the areas of Human Resources and Education and Research.
TiE Hubli hosted Mr. Mohandas Pai, who Met the Charter Members of TiE Hubli at the Hotel Clarks Inn on 12th March at 7 PM for an Hours discussion. Talking on the occasion Mr. Pai, stresses on the need of improving Hubli to make it a better place for the bigger companies to come here and also a better place to live.
He particularly stresses that Hubli needed better infrastructure and education facilities to lure the big companies.
Mr. Pai also made note of many issues such as better roads, better connectivity, better schools and colleges and also made a special note on procuring incentives from the government in getting all these things done and improvised.
Mr. Mohandas Pai gave out a ten point agenda for making Hubli an attractive place for companies to come in & also for people to settle in here. The ten point agenda was
1) Creating a proper growth plan for Hubli, in terms of number of employed, city’s infrastructure.
2) Creating better education facilities and hiqh quality education and educational institutions.
3) Creating more of SEZ’s and research centre’s in Hubli.
4) Creating more opportunities for other industries such as garment industry, fabrications, auto components etc.
5) Making Hubli as a cultural centre, so that Hubli can be made more visible. He was particular in saying that Hubli and North Karnataka holds a very rich cultural heritage and that needs to be showcased in order to pull more people in.
6) The need to get more and more visible and high profile people to the city, which helps in branding the city.
7) He stressed on the need of sowing the seeds of entrepreneurship from the college days and that college students need to be given more chance to experiment and should be given more exposure.
8) Setting up high quality incubators and infrastructure, because the progress needs to be visible and through incubators a regular check on the progress can be kept.
9) Get the Govt to incentivise the set up and that would motivate more companies to come and set up their companies here.. and finally
10) Stressed on the need on improving the quality of life here.
