Dr. Madhusudan V Atre is the President, Applied Materials India, assuming the top executive position for India. He is responsible for the development and execution of Applied Materials' strategy in India, ensure alignment, coordination and execution of all product development, business, and operational activities. He is also involved in various strategy initiatives at the corporate level.
Dr. Atre started the Bell Labs R&D center of the Lucent Technologies, Microelectronics Group - later called Agere Systems, after its spin-off from Lucent Technologies. He was the Vice President & Founding Managing Director of Agere Systems India, and also managed the Australia center. After the merger of Agere Systems with LSI Logic in 2007, he continued as the Vice President & Managing Director of LSI India operations. Prior to that Dr. Atre was with Texas Instruments and the Defence R&D Organization (DRDO).
Dr. Atre was the founding Executive Council member of the Indian Semiconductor Association (ISA). He has helped drive strategies and policies for semiconductor and photovoltaic ecosystem in India - in conjunction with the Government and academic institutions. He has also been advisor to teaching institutions and startups.
Dr. Atre did his 5 year integrated M.Sc. in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Bombay and obtained his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Indian Institute of Science (IISc)-Bangalore. He has been a Research Scientist at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR)-Bombay, Physical Research Laboratory (PRL)-Ahmedabad, IISc-Bangalore, as also universities in Italy and US. He has published more than 20 papers, and has given invited talks and keynote adresses in universities, conferences and symposia.
Madhusudhan Atre has over 24+ years of leadership and management experience in semiconductor and solar industries at TiE Hubli he addressed on Leadership and Management. He stressed on how a manager can be Facilitator and an Enabler. He dealt and focused on creation of leadership models and team work models and motivational factors
