Hon’ble Commissioner of Income Tax, Mr. B L Meena addressed TiE members regarding "The New Direct Tax Code". The talk focused on the proposed direct tax code which will replace the current Income Tax Act, which dates back to 1961. The significant structural changes to direct taxation which new code proposes to bring about in the country. He also stressed on the point that the direct tax code aims at reducing tax rates, but expanding the tax base by minimizing exemptions.More than 70 members had attended the session at Deshpande Foundation. Mr Naveen Jha, President TiE Hubli and CEO of Deshpande Foundation and Charter Members of TiE Hubli namely Arvind Bellad, Santhosh Huralikopi, Shankar Bijapur, Sheshagiri Kulkarni, Goutam Ostwal, Bimal Mehta, Sandeep Bidasariya were also present in the session.
